Final Collection – Home, A Self Study

A maker’s space, filled with tools and material. Solitude, a blank canvas, thoughts in flux and movement. A state of flow and rhythm, where the creative pulse feeds her hands with intention in a pursuit of self-understanding through self-expression. Moulding, shaping, finishing, filling gaps where words fail. Engines starting, motors humming, the clicks of an end-of-seam backtack, internal blades that snip and release the work from its brace. Heels walking, shears trimming, while a morning coffee sits beside her. Outside, rain hits the dry soil, and the scent of petrichor takes over her senses.

Her work is a study of self: a means of communication, a source of life, and a way of being. Her studio is not merely a workspace, but a threshold between thought and form. It is a constant conversation between hard and soft, cold and warmth, where antiquity meets modernity. Strength meets ease in a delicate balance. The openness of a wide, empty space, cold concrete, and stripping something back to its rawest form is contrasted with the inviting warmth of an antique artefact, an heirloom, boot leather, and calico. Silver versus gold, new versus old, forming a relationship between past and present where one cannot exist without the other.

“To construct a garment is to build a home” is a mantra that echoes throughout each of her creations, viewing clothing as both shelter and an extension of the body. A home is a recharging space, a place that holds our memories without judgment. Our mothers are our home, our garments are our home, our bodies are our home. Moving between time periods and rejecting binaries, her creations do not target a specific gender, culture, or look, but rather a mindset. She gives herself over to her craft because it is the core relationship in her life, the one where she feels most authentic.

Building on the previous project Home – The Scent, C.W. Archive expands its story with a new collection of shoes and leather accessories. The work connects human handcraft with machine precision, putting raw calico fabric at the center of the design. Timeless and classic, she adores the sweet, hay-like aroma it releases when pressed. Everything she creates aims to capture the essence of this sacred cloth, warm, comforting, and forgiving. This simple, unbleached cloth acts as a blank canvas and a clean slate, creating a direct connection between the person who makes the piece and the person who wears it.

It stands as an immersive exploration of contrasting elements, where cold concrete surfaces and raw brutalism meet the quiet warmth of antique sentimentality. By harmonizing the past with the present, the collection redefines traditional craftsmanship into a study of self, ultimately offering clothing and accessories not merely as an outer shell, but as a comforting, personal sanctuary.
